The Day Humanity Lost.

It’s been a while since I last put my thoughts on paper and shared them with you. I’ve missed writing long-form pieces ( With this piece though I aimed for something more concise, yet profound – consider it a medium-length piece ). Since my last piece, I’ve gone through a lot. The challenges of life have given me a deeper understanding of my journey and those who are part of it, including you. When things finally settled, I had the chance to reflect on everything that had happened. I realized that a new chapter of my story had begun—unexpected and unwanted, but apparently necessary.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned during this time is that we cannot plan when our souls need to be reborn. We cannot foresee what life has in store for us. What we must do is embrace each moment that life offers, whether it’s an up or a down, and find something valuable and enjoyable in each experience. These moments bring us closer to the life we envision.

One of the moments that led to my profound realization happened in a single day. We often value years or longer periods of time, but it is often the smallest moments, the nuances of life, that have the biggest impact on us. In the following lines, I want to share with you a story inspired by the real events from the day when my life took an unexpected turn. At first glance, it seemed like a loving, kind, and empathetic person lost, but looking deeper, it was a day when humanity truly lost.

There are many lessons hidden within this short narrative. Just as it was my responsibility to reflect on my experiences and extract the lessons needed to start a new chapter, it is up to each of you to discover and reflect on them. These lessons may spark the needed change within you or reveal insights you were previously unaware of, helping you get closer to your own rebirth.

In a small village, there lived a doctor renowned for his kindness. Dr. G, known simply as "Kindness," had spent his 50 years building strong relationships with people from all walks of life. His influence spread far and wide, touching every domain imaginable. People sought his help not just for his medical skills but for his compassionate heart.

G’s path to becoming the village doctor wasn't easy. Orphaned at a young age, he had to work tirelessly to put himself through medical school. His experiences of hardship and the kindness of strangers who helped him along the way shaped his worldview, instilling in him a deep sense of empathy and a desire to give back to his community.

On the other side of the village lived M, the current leader, a man who had done nothing for the people. M, whom everyone started calling "Meanness," ruled through violence and threats, using his power only for his own enrichment. His childhood of privilege and a family history of corruption had molded him into a man who saw power as a means to personal gain, not public service.

As the village languished under M’s rule, lacking basic necessities like water, sewers, and electricity, Dr. G decided to run for leadership. The campaign was long and grueling, filled with verbal battles between kindness and meanness.

Dr. G went door to door, speaking to each villager personally. He listened to their stories, their struggles, and their dreams. His vision was of a thriving community where everyone could live in dignity and health. Meanwhile, M spread fear and lies, threatening those who showed support for Dr. G and bribing the most vulnerable with small amounts of money and false promises.

One evening, Dr. G visited a family struggling to make ends meet. The father, Andrei, had sold his only cow to pay for his wife's medical treatment. Dr. G sat with Andrei and his family, listening to their worries.

"I know what M offers is tempting," Dr. G said, looking into Andrei's eyes. "But it's temporary. What we can build together will last for generations."

Andrei nodded, tears in his eyes. "We believe in you, Doctor. We believe in what you stand for."

As the election day approached, tension in the village reached a fever pitch. Some villagers, like Maria, the local schoolteacher, openly supported Dr. G, organizing meetings to discuss his plans for the village. Others, like old man Petru, who had always benefited from M’s corrupt rule, worked tirelessly to undermine Dr. G’s campaign.

On election day, both candidates waited breathlessly as votes were counted. The final result was announced—M had won.

In the days that followed, the true cost of the village's choice became apparent. M’s promises of immediate relief proved hollow, and his oppressive rule intensified. The village's only clean water source was privatized, making it unaffordable for most. The small clinic where Dr. G worked was forced to close due to a lack of funds.

Despite his loss, Dr. G continued his work, treating patients in their homes and organizing community initiatives to help those in need. A small group of villagers, realizing their mistake, began to resist M’s rule quietly. They met in secret, planning ways to bring about change.

Months turned into years, and the village's decline became impossible to ignore. The once-lush community garden withered, a poignant symbol of the village's deterioration. Neighboring towns, once eager to trade with the village, now avoided it, wary of M’s reputation.

Even some who had supported M began to see the error of their ways. Petru’s grandson fell ill, and when M’s expensive private doctor couldn't help, it was Dr. G who saved the boy's life. This act of kindness sparked a change in Petru, who began to use his influence to challenge Viktor's rule.

But the damage had been done. The village's reputation was in tatters, its economy in ruins, and its people divided. What should have been a thriving community had become a cautionary tale.

As Dr. G tended to yet another patient made ill by the village's contaminated water, he couldn't help but reflect on the election that had set this decline in motion. It wasn't just he who had lost that day, nor was it simply a victory for M. In choosing short-term gains and empty promises over compassion and integrity, the villagers had forsaken the very essence of their humanity.

The story of the village spread to other communities, a stark reminder of the consequences of choosing greed over kindness, fear over hope. And though Dr. G  continued his work, embodying the very best of human nature, the truth was inescapable: when the people chose fear over hope and greed over generosity, humanity lost that day.

What is the point of living if we aren't true to ourselves? What value does existence have if we live our lives based on the opinions of others? Such a life isn't living; it's just existing, an endurance test that eventually leads to a breaking point. Is that what you want for yourself? I sincerely hope not. I want you to be appreciated and cherished for who you are. Therefore, I implore you:

Choose your environment with care and intention. And, before you make that decision, understand and embrace your true self. Become, and love, the unique soul that you are.🌹

Thank you!
