Meme Coin Scanning Guide — From 0 to Advanced Single Coin A7
Beginner's Guide to Chain Scanning — From 0 to Advanced Single Coin A7
Recently, meme coins have become a hot trend, with new "shitcoins" hitting the market almost every day, some reaching a market cap of tens of millions. It's a constant mix of opportunities and traps.
Before diving into meme coins, many might feel this way: why do the coins others are talking about always seem to have already experienced a price surge? (At this point, buying is usually entering at a high, and only occasionally can one get in at a "mid-way" price.)
Have you ever wondered how to identify these coins before the price surge? Chain scanning is the ultimate solution to this. As long as you can jump in before others, the risk is low and the returns are high.
I've compiled a chain scanning guide based on lessons learned through trial and error, packed with practical insights to totally change your approach to meme coins!

In a meme coin bull market, catching just one can make you a Single Coin A7 millionaire. Best of luck finding your own "golden dog!"
1. Tools:
For chain scanning, I typically use two tools. These are for reference only, no specific recommendations:
1️⃣ Bullx (Fastest for scanning and trading, most popular): Bullx Bot
2️⃣ GMGN (Most used in Chinese area) : gmgn.ai
Note: I personally prefer GMGN because I'm used to Chinese-language tools, but based on my experience, Bullx scans new coins a few seconds faster than GMGN. A few seconds could mean a few times more profit, so top meme coin traders likely prefer Bullx. (However, choose whichever tool you're comfortable with. A word of caution: avoid leaving too much capital on meme coin tools.)
Bullx Tutorial👇
① Join the Bullx Telegram Bot: Go to https://t.me/BullxBetaBot?start=access_CTHOA9HUU79 and automatically type /start
in the chat. Click on the "login" button in the conversation to log into the Bullx web interface.
② Configure the network for chain scanning,Choose the network you want to scan. For example, if you're scanning Solana, select the Solana network.
③ The most commonly used feature in Bullx is the "Pump Chain Scanning" panel. This is quite similar to GMGN, but Bullx scans a bit faster. It also allows you to configure quick buy options.
④ Set filtering criteria for the Pump list, You can adjust the list filters according to your preferences. Once configured, the list will auto-refresh and push notifications to you when a new pump that fits your criteria appears.(By following the following configuration, you can filter out great memes)
⑤ By setting an automatic order strategy, you can automatically buy and sell (e.g., set a strategy to double the position for profit-taking or sell everything to stop losses when the price drops by 50%).
⑥ Wallet Panel, You can view your transaction status, deposit, or withdraw funds in the wallet panel.
2. Warm-Up — Preparation Before Meme Coin Scanning, Identifying Trends
Before you start chain scanning every day, there are two essential tasks that determine the success of your PVP (Player vs. Player) for the day:
1️⃣ Identify the trend direction:First, check the popular meme narratives on Bullx Explore to understand where the focus is today.
2️⃣ Review the Graduated listings:Next, go to the "Graduated" section and scan the newly listed tokens to see if any high-value tokens (in the millions) have appeared. This helps gauge the current meme sentiment in the market. After all, without strong sentiment, even the best narratives will struggle to perform well in PVP, whereas, during a high-sentiment period, various perspectives can succeed.
My personal criteria:If there are meme tokens worth millions or even tens of millions listed within the past 3 hours, it shows that there is hot money flowing in, making PVP relatively easier.
3. Golden Coin Strategy — Narratives Worth Following (The Key Focus of the Entire Guide)
How to quickly assess if a meme coin is worth investing in? Here's the key — all practical insights👇
My most commonly used chain scanning page is the Pump List. Based on the filtering criteria from Bullx, I focus on meme coins that appear within the first 3 minutes, have high trading volumes, a large number of holders, and a rapidly changing market cap. The first step is always to click on the token’s social media links to gather information and make a sharp narrative judgment.
Here are some personal experience-based points for quickly identifying meme coins worth investing in:
1️⃣ Celebrity/Artist Coin LaunchesClick on the X icon to open the project's Twitter account, as this is often the most direct way to get token information. If you discover that the project or the developer is from a well-known account, seize the opportunity.
Here are three key standards to look out for:
High mutual followers, especially with celebrity accounts (Elon Musk, CZ, institutions, etc. — this is a key narrative). If it's an artist, also check the background and artistic achievements.
Clear indication of a meme coin launch: If the social media links show a celebrity or well-known project, be sure to check the replies for recent posts mentioning the coin or the token address (many projects are just riding the coattails of others).
Avoid hacker accounts: Be wary of Twitter accounts that have never mentioned a token launch or have been inactive for a long time suddenly tweeting about a pump token link. These are likely hacked accounts, and you should avoid them!
Tip: This is one of the most effective ways to catch a small or large golden dog coin. The key is to follow many well-known Twitter influencers, developers, and institutional accounts. (There are also tools to annotate Twitter info, which you can search for, like Tampermonkey + annotations.)
2️⃣ Meme Coins with the Same Image or Name Appearing in Large Quantities in a Short TimeQuickly check the project website, tweets, developer address, and other details. This usually indicates a celebrity tweet or trending narrative. If it's a big trend or a meme coin with potential, head to the pump list to find the first published OG contract or look at Bullx’s top movers to find new contracts with high trading volume and holders.
3️⃣ Following Narrative TrendsIf there’s a narrative meme coin emerging with a large market cap in the past couple of days, focus on meme coins within that narrative. For example, if AI is trending, focus on AI-related tokens.
4️⃣ Tokens with Full Internal LiquidityTypically, when a token fills its internal liquidity, it indicates a strong narrative. If you spot such a token, research and analyze it to understand what the project is about. Don’t miss out on these opportunities — if the narrative is strong, look for entry points!
5️⃣ Tokens with Full External LiquidityCopy the contract address and search for information on Twitter. If it’s a new narrative or has major backers, wait for a correction and look for an entry point, or judge whether it could be part of a larger narrative. This is a strategy used by many well-known on-chain influencers, such as 0xsun, Crypto D, etc. Generally, external liquidity is a more reliable indicator.
4. Practical Guide — Watch More, Act Less (Key Focus of the Entire Guide)
We now officially enter the practical phase of meme coin scanning. The three most important words I’d summarize are: sit still + sharp observation + a little bit of luck. In most people's eyes: meme coin hunting = luck. However, after many battles in the internal market PVP, I believe that while luck is indeed important, the ultimate strategy for making money is — watch more, act less.
As a daily chain scanner, please follow my perspective and experience (which may not apply to everyone, just for reference)👇
1️⃣ Choosing the Right Times to WatchBetween 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM to 12:00 AM are the most active times for golden dogs. From personal experience, these periods are when new meme coins often appear. While the early morning hours also have a high frequency of golden dogs from overseas, I personally prefer not to stay up late to monitor chains. So, waking up early to catch the morning market can also be a good choice.
2️⃣ When You First Start ScanningI begin by looking at meme coins with high market caps that have already been listed, assessing the current narrative and market sentiment (as mentioned earlier). For example, let’s say there’s a recent live-streaming narrative. If I feel the sentiment is already too high, I won’t enter but will keep an eye on some of the oddball live-stream meme coins for today (just an example of my thought process, do not invest in this).
3️⃣ ExperienceThe most common type of token I see in the "Pump" list is a blank official Twitter account with no attention or tweets, just a few recent tweets. These are typically not worth looking at! Particularly if it’s an animal-themed meme token. If you think the meme image is good, make sure to Google image search to check if it's original! If it's not, just pass.
4️⃣ Missing the Leader Doesn't Mean Missing the OpportunityIf you missed the leading meme coin, be quick to spot related tokens that can potentially follow the trend. Look for bottom-positioned tokens, such as those with a market cap in the low thousands. Just enter and wait for the ride. But be sure to take profits promptly, as these tokens are generally clones and won't go far (PVP gameplay isn't for slow-reacting players).
Examples (PVP Warning: The following are copycat tokens, be sure to exit timely and don’t buy at high prices):
① When the Hippo Moodeng token surged from millions to tens of millions in market cap, if you missed it, you should quickly look for OG tokens, other Moodeng-related projects, or similar animals from the same "zoo."
② For example, recently, the SCI sector and $RIF tokens were gaining attention. If you spot $URO, check for related factors, such as Binance’s investment in Bio Protocol, or look for related narratives like DeSci, SciHub, etc.
③ When a certain token is hot, if you can’t find related narratives, check if the developer has launched multiple tokens. If they have, consider looking into their first token. These types of tokens tend to get pumped (make sure it’s at the bottom; if it’s already gone up, don’t buy!).
5️⃣ Basic Scanning PrincipleFocus on the Pump List, watch more, and act less. It’s common to monitor hundreds of tokens daily, and about half of the success in the internal market depends on effort and half on luck. For the tokens I consider, here are some common themes 👇
Mascot Series: Any new mascots released by well-known companies or institutions. These often have a chance. For example, Catholic mascot Luce, Gamestop mascot Buck, etc. If you see this in the official news or Twitter link, it’s a solid narrative.
AI Series: The hot AI-themed tokens, especially those in the a16z series. If I find an AI meme coin, I usually check the official Twitter for support from a16z, Goat, Zerebro, or other known AI accounts.
Animal Series: This is the most common category in meme coins. It's better when there's a current hot trend. If there’s no recent trend in animal-themed coins, check if it’s a newly minted animal name, a celebrity-owned pet, or if it has a narrative that could catch on.
Celebrity Series: Typically, look for meme coins around keywords related to celebrities like Elon Musk, Trump, Dogecoin founders, Solana foundation, etc. These types of narratives lean towards PVP. Personally, I generally don’t trade on external markets for these but watch for tweets from these celebrities and find the pump coin’s name. Buy in at a low price.
SCI Series: This is a new and growing trend — Decentralized Science. Currently, tokens related to this trend haven’t hit Binance yet, so it may continue to be a hot spot. But only consider official meme coins from well-known teams, like @bioprotocol.
Political Narratives: This includes emerging terms in U.S. politics that may take off, such as Musk or Trump tweets. For example, Department of Government Efficiency, abbreviated as DOGE, and the new official Twitter handle @DOGE. Keep an eye on relevant political events.
New Narrative Series: This one is subjective. If you come across a new trend or direction that seems promising, seize the opportunity. These kinds of opportunities require luck and are based on your own subjective judgment and understanding.
Next, I’ll summarize some tips from group members and experienced traders (find the strategy that suits you):
① Use pump filters for 1-240 min new tokens with over 40 holders. Focus on newer tokens, while the “Pump” list is for watching older ones with significant movements.
② Join a few dog-hunting groups. Frequent meme coins often appear, and these groups are good for those who don’t have time to scan chains daily.
③ Exclude obvious “whale accounts” (check Bullx holders), and avoid coins that are pumped by the same developers multiple times (look up the token name). Avoid tokens with too many early holders (such as 6%, 8%, 10%) or strange volume movements.
④ Avoid copycat tokens. This is not a bias, it’s obvious! These usually won’t last long, so avoid getting caught up in them with rookie traders.
⑤ If a token is already listed on external markets, check the background, enter with a small position first, and add more after a correction. These tokens often make over $10M, and after a correction, they stabilize in the millions.
⑥ Always prefer playing the leading tokens. Copycats usually die off quickly.
6️⃣ Regarding BuyingBecause the risk of complete loss is high with internal market tokens, I only put 10% of my “dog-hunting” capital into each token. Internal market returns can be high, but I don’t need to use large amounts (I usually prepare 10 SOL for dog-hunting, putting in 0.5 SOL or 1 SOL per token). For external market trades, I only risk small positions when I’m really confident in the token.
Selling Strategy:The saying goes: “Buying is for beginners, selling is for masters.” After you learn to scan and hunt golden dogs, you must also learn to take profits or stop losses in time. Know how to gauge sentiment — if a token has already been extensively talked about, it’s time to take profits. After all, sentiment rises and falls, and once it peaks, it can crash quickly.
Also, keep your emotions in check. Don’t get FOMO because others are claiming massive gains. These are often high-price traps. Even if the narrative is strong, wait for a pullback to enter. If it doesn’t pull back, boldly skip it and wait for the next one.
**How to gauge sentiment?**Most of the time, it’s a cultivated sense of the market. You can also search the token's contract address directly on Twitter. If there are frequent posts, consider taking profits or exiting. Alternatively, monitor the active groups — when everyone is getting excited, exiting or taking profits is a good choice.
In general, doubling your investment and exiting is the best strategy. For the remaining, decide based on the narrative. For tokens you're not confident in, exit when appropriate. Personally, in PVP, I often take 25% profit at a 2x gain, and hold the rest depending on the situation. You can develop your own trading habits.
7️⃣ Final Practical Tips for Dog-HuntingAs a newbie dog-hunter, it’s essential to control your impulses and not jump in too soon. I highly recommend watching the market for 1 week without making any moves, then see if the tokens you’ve tracked match your expectations. If the success rate is high, then go for it, but don’t put in your funds too early. If the success rate is low, continue honing your scanning skills — putting in funds at this point is like giving away money!
Learning is endless. You may not be able to predict what the next hot token will be, but you can grasp current hot narratives. When you don’t understand why a meme token is skyrocketing, study it, understand it, and follow the related Twitter accounts. Maybe the next opportunity is in!
5. Anti-Scam Guide — How to Identify RUG Pulls (Personal Lessons Learned from Paying the Tuition)
Honestly, even with the most cautious chain scanning, it’s almost inevitable to encounter rug pulls — sudden dumps. So knowing how to identify these malicious developers is extremely important. Here’s a summary of some scam tokens I’ve personally encountered and learned from, and things to watch out for👇
1️⃣ Block Big Scammer InfluencersIf I come across a meme coin and see it was posted by a well-followed influencer, I always check the chart. If, after listing on the internal market, the price crashes within 1 minute, then I immediately block that influencer. Even if they change their name, they stay blocked. This helps avoid falling for the same scam again.
2️⃣ Be Careful with Fraudulent WebsitesThere’s been a surge in animal meme coins recently, especially when a leading meme coin launches. New tokens in these narratives can quickly become popular. If you spot a meme coin linked to an article or news mentioning an animal's name or a recent hot event, you should quickly assess the credibility of the website and determine whether it's a legitimate source. Always verify whether it’s really news or just a scam.
3️⃣ Beware of Tokens That Surge to the Top in Under a MinuteTokens that suddenly skyrocket to the top in just a minute are usually tied to dumping addresses. If, upon research, you can’t find any solid backing or narrative, avoid these tokens. The usual pattern is the token is pumped to 60k within a few minutes, and then the price crashes immediately. Also, keep an eye on the bullx (Golden Mean Governance Network) holder list — if it’s all red, then it’s likely a bundle of scam addresses. Avoid these at all costs.
4️⃣ Watch Out for Tokens Designed with CanvaIf you notice that the design tool mentioned at the bottom right corner of a token’s official website is Canva, this is usually a red flag. These tokens are typically created by Chinese scammers and generally not worth investing in.
5️⃣ Be Careful with External Market ScamsSome tokens on external exchanges may appear to surge to several million in market cap, but when you look at their Twitter, there’s no strong narrative or involvement of any prominent figures. The bullx correlation also shows a lot of red flags (indicating possible manipulation). Avoid these tokens. While some PVP players may try to "take a quick profit," the risk is high, and it’s better to stay cautious. As the saying goes, "Those who walk by the river will eventually get their shoes wet."
6️⃣ Be Wary of Instagram ScamsSome scam tokens use social media platforms, like Instagram, to lure in potential investors. These might be Instagram pages with hundreds of thousands of followers and posts promoting a token with a pump link in the bio. If you click on the post, check the post date. If it hasn’t been updated in a while, it’s likely a hacked account. Don't be fooled by the number of followers. These types of scams should be avoided. Just because they have many followers doesn’t mean they’re legitimate.
6. Meme Slang Guide — Terminology in the Meme Coin World
Do you feel anxious watching others make huge profits from meme coins, but struggle to understand terms like DYOR, FOMO, PVP, internal market, external market, or pixiu? Don’t worry, the Meme Coin Terminology Encyclopedia is here to help👇
MEME — A token that originally had no value, but becomes hugely popular on the internet, causing its price to skyrocket. The most famous examples include DOGE, SHIB, and PEPE.
土狗 (Tu Gou) — Usually refers to a meme coin’s precursor: a token that has just been issued but hasn’t yet built up community support. These tokens can easily lose all their value in a short period. Once a community is established, it can be called a meme token. Examples include eliza community, scihub (scientific community), hippo MOODENG, zoo KHEOWZOO, etc.
小金 (Xiao Jin) / 大金 (Da Jin) — Refers to meme coins with significant potential, usually reaching a market cap of millions or even tens of millions. For example, when someone says, "A big meme coin launched yesterday, and I missed it."
拍断大腿 (Pai Duan Da Tui) — A term used to express regret after missing a big opportunity. It’s the act of slapping your thigh in frustration for not buying into a profitable coin.
DYOR (Do Your Own Research) — A common phrase in cryptocurrency, meaning you should research and think critically before buying into any token, rather than blindly following others.
貔貅 (Pixiu) — Refers to tokens that can only be bought but not sold. Only the project's address can sell the tokens, and some tokens can only be sold once or in small amounts. Buying these tokens results in immediate losses, meaning the project is likely scamming you.
RUG — Refers to rug pulls, where the project team releases a token, waits for users to buy in, and then pulls the liquidity, running off with the funds. This is a type of scam similar to Pixiu.
内盘 (Internal Market) — Tokens that are still in pre-launch or pre-sale stages, usually 100% prepared but not yet publicly listed. The advantage is that they avoid Pixiu and RUG risks. For example, Pump内盘 refers to a token deployed on a platform like Pump where liquidity is raised without these risks. (Note: Pump originated on Solana but now exists on multiple chains under different names.)
外盘 (External Market) — Tokens that have been fully launched, listed, and are now trading on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) like Radium, Uniswap, etc.
射了 (She Le) — A term meaning the token has been successfully launched and is now available for trading on DEXs.
飞了 (Fei Le) — Refers to a token that’s seen a huge price increase, or taking off like a rocket.
卖飞 (Mai Fei) — Refers to selling off a token too early when it only rose slightly, and later watching the token’s price skyrocket, causing regret.
翻倍出本 (Fan Bei Chu Ben) — A common meme coin trading strategy. After the price of a token doubles, the investor sells off their principal to avoid losses if the token drops back to zero.
PVP (Player vs. Player) — Describes the competition and market dynamics between traders. Community PVP refers to tokens that are only bought and sold by people in the community, and the faster sellers get the profit while slower ones miss out. New entrants rarely make it in.
FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) — The feeling of fear when seeing others profit, causing you to rush in and buy a token, inflating its price irrationally. When someone says a coin is FOMOing, it means the market sentiment is on fire, and everyone is rushing in.
FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) — Information or comments from certain media or individuals designed to create panic or confusion among investors. A common tactic is spreading false rumors to cause people to sell, allowing the manipulator to buy back at a lower price.
HODL — A term derived from "hold", meaning to hold onto a token for a long time without selling it.
钻石手 (Zuan Shi Shou) — Refers to someone with a diamond hand, meaning they hold onto a token for the long term despite volatility.
巨鲸 (Ju Jing) — Refers to those who hold a large number of tokens, typically those in the top 10 holders of a meme coin.
LFG (Let’s Fucking Go) — A rallying cry used to stir up FOMO emotions and encourage price increases, similar to the phrase "to the moon".
GM, GN — Good Morning and Good Night in the crypto world. Even CZ has posted these, and they have been associated with certain meme coins.
夹子 (Jia Zi) — Refers to MEV bots (Maximal Extractable Value) that buy tokens before you do (causing you to pay a higher price). After your transaction, the bot sells its tokens, profiting from the difference. This is also known as arbitrage. Essentially, you intended to buy 100 tokens, but you only end up with 90 (or fewer) due to the bot. Some meme coin platforms offer anti-sniping features to protect users.
扫链 (Sao Lian) — Refers to scanning the blockchain and monitoring transactions. It was originally used by certain professionals, but now there are many tools that allow regular users to do it too.
刮刀 (Gua Dao) — Refers to monitoring Twitter accounts for tweets containing contract addresses (CA). If a tweet includes a CA, the bot will automatically buy the token without manual intervention. This is a more advanced scientific trading technique.
CA (Contract Address) — The unique address for a token's smart contract, similar to a wallet address, used to distinguish different tokens. The name of a token can be duplicated, but its contract address cannot.
